About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Legal Support Specialist to join our team as an independent contractor. This hybrid role combines both remote and in-office responsibilities, providing essential legal and administrative support to our legal team and company leadership.

As a Legal Support Specialist, you will assist with a variety of tasks including legal documentation, case preparation, research, and general administrative duties. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of legal processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

​

Legal Document Management

  • Draft, proofread, and format legal correspondence, contracts, memoranda, and reports.

  • Review documents for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant legal standards.

  • Organize and maintain digital and physical legal files.

Case & Client Support

  • Assist with the preparation of materials for court filings, hearings, and meetings.

  • Monitor and manage deadlines, case updates, and document submissions.

  • Communicate with clients, courts, and outside counsel under attorney direction.

Research & Compliance

  • Conduct legal research as assigned, summarizing findings in a clear and concise manner.

  • Monitor changes in laws, regulations, and company compliance requirements.

  • Help ensure all internal processes meet regulatory guidelines.

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and legal proceedings.

  • Maintain organized records of case timelines, invoices, and communications.

  • Assist with data entry, internal reporting, and other administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a legal support, paralegal, or administrative legal role.

  • Knowledge of legal terminology, court filing procedures, and legal documentation.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks independently.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and document management systems.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Discretion and integrity in handling confidential information.

  • Must have reliable internet access and transportation for in-office work when required.

Contract Type & Work Environment:

  • This is an independent contractor position. You will be responsible for your own taxes, equipment, and scheduling within the required deadlines.

  • Hybrid work environment – majority remote, with occasional in-office requirements based on project needs, legal proceedings, or team collaboration.

  • Flexible scheduling within business hours, though deadlines and occasional meeting attendance may require set availability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in small claims, compliance, or contract law is a plus.

  • Prior experience working with law firms, legal departments, or similar business structures.
